This virtual instrument closely emulates the layout of Hohner's renowned Double-Ray Black-Dot diatonic accordion, offering an intuitive interface designed for responsive play. The fingerboard effectively reproduces the traditional sound associated with common two-row tunings such as B/C, C#/D, and D/G, while also providing an extended B/C+ configuration featuring four chromatic buttons on a partial third row.

Users can toggle between bellows push and pull actions by simply touching the designated bellows area, allowing for a realistic playing experience. The interface permits straightforward selection of tuning options—including B/C, B/C+, C#/D, and D/G—as well as adjustments for volume and reverb via controls accessible from the upper right corner of the screen.

For more advanced chord playing involving multiple fingers, it is necessary to disable "Multitasking Gestures" on the iPad through Settings under General/Multitasking Gestures.

The instrument supports MIDI integration, enabling play via MIDI controllers or file players. After launching the Hohner Melodeon Pro app, users should select "HohnerMelodeon" as the MIDI destination within their MIDI-enabled applications' CoreMIDI settings. The MIDI channel can be adjusted through the controls interface, with the lowest playable note being G3 (MIDI Note 55) and a range extending up to E6. The app is responsive to MIDI Note-on Velocity messages, enhancing expressive potential.

Additional features include toggling note names on or off with the "?" button and accessing help information via the "i" icon. All user preferences and settings are automatically saved upon exit and restored during subsequent use.
